A Gantt chart is a popular tool used in project management. In a Gantt chart, a time frame is established at the top, a list of activities is set to the left side, and the time that each activity should take is represented by a bar that extends through a specific time frame on the chart where the beginning of the bar is the starting date, the body is the duration, and the last side of the bar is the finishing date.
A Gantt chart is helpful to visualize the start and finish dates of each activity, the total time required to complete the project, and the project finish date. Polish engineer Karol Adamiecki invented Gantt charts during the 1890s. But they became popularized a few years later by American engineer and project management consultant Henry Gantt.
